Hell by Minecraft Maps

HELL V1.0

Desc:
I've always thought survival mode was a little easy, even on Hard. So I made this generously sized, hellishly themed map for my own pleasure. Though, I figured I should share it, as I'm sure there are others who would enjoy it. So here it is!

Install:
Place the Hell folder into your saves folder (%appdata%/.minecraft/saves), and rename to replace any world folder you like.

Notes:
- Extremely abundant lava/obsidian.
- No coal.
- No sunlight; except for the 'haven' at the spawn.
- No trees; those saplings you have are the sole source of new wood you have, don't lose them.
- No grass; except for the 3x3 square of it at the spawn. Place dirt blocks beside that and the grass will spread gradually.
- No water; don't get yourself set on fire!

Goals:
I included a goal into this map that you may choose to complete. There is a small opening in the adminium shield, when you find it you will gain access to the rest of the world (which is decidedly non-hellish). So get out there and Escape From The Bowels Of Hell!

How to convert your OWN map!

Conversion requires both MCedit, and INVedit. If you do not have those tools yet, go get them! (See their respective threads for useage instructions; I assume that you have already learnt the basics.)

Note that for most steps, saving with MCedit will take some time! MCedit appears to catch any typing you have done in any window after it is done, so I highly recommend leaving the computer for a few minutes to avoid unwanted changes and/or crashing.

1)
The first step to creating your very own Hell map is to generate a new world. Simply start a new world normally, and quit after letting chunks load for a little bit; look around to see if the map is to your liking (setting render distance to far beforehand is recommended).

2)
Once your map is safely saved, minimize Minecraft and open MCedit. Load the world you just created.

It's entirely up to you how large the map will be, though you should be aware that the larger the map, the longer saving with the editor will be! (The map I have uploaded takes about 2-5 minutes to save.)

Simply generate chunks in a bounding box around the existing map, and create an adminium wall on the outer edge of the created chunks. Do NOT generate the chunks anywhere other than in a 1-chunk-thick outline, as MCedit creates the chunks with no terrain except a bedrock floor.

3)
Once the map is saved from the previous step, reload the world in Minecraft. Set the game to Peaceful (to prevent interruptions) and pick a direction. Walk in that direction until you see the adminium wall you created in the step before. Mark your location with a landmark, and travel around the map, keeping the wall just visible in the far distance.

Once you have circled back to the landmark you placed, save and quit.

4)
Load the map in MCedit again. Depending on map size, you may or may not notice un-generated gaps. Use the set player location feature to teleport yourself near (NOT IN; minecraft may crash) these areas; bounce back and forth between MCedit and Minecraft to get the missing chunks created.

5)
Next is the adminium roof. With MCedit, create a solid plate of adminium at the maximum height to finish sealing the map. Above the player spawn (you may move this to a more suitable place if you wish), be sure to create a hole (it does not need to be any specific size or shape, though being a minimum of 2x2 chunks in size (14x14) is recommended).

Before saving the changes, be sure to reset the player location back to the spawn and (with INVedit) empty the inventory; give 1/4 to 1/2 (according to preference) stacks of wood, sticks, saplings and seeds. Also, one food item is recommended.

6)
In MCedit, press Ctrl+A to select all blocks.

Use the fill and replace tool to replace any or all of these blocks (or none; this step can be done entirely to your own preferences);
- Still Water; replace with Still Lava
- Coal Ore; replace with Still Lava
- Grass; replace with Gravel
- Tree Trunk; replace with Obsidian
- Leaves; replace with Air

Save the map.

7)
Load the world in Minecraft and wait at the spawn (on Peaceful) until the very beginning of the next day. Save, switch to your difficulty of preference and play.
